Our partnership with Kirkman Park Elementary School will continue until their library is up-to-date and the children's needs are met.
The Tybro Foundation is dedicating it's efforts to help one urban school at a time. The needs are so great and the State will only provide so much. It is up to ordinary citizens to help provide basics needs to a child's education.
What we’ve accomplished:
In August 2015, The Tybro Foundation hosted a Free Backpack Giveaway at Kirkman Park for students needing backpacks and school supplies. Over 200 backpacks were given out on that day. Look at the smiling faces of the children in the pictures. For some of them it was their first backpack.
In December 2016, The Tybro Foundation gifted Kirkman with 20 new Kindle Fire's for the students in the accelerated reading program as an incentive for achieving their goals.
In January 2017, The Tybro Foundation gifted Kirkman with a gift of $15,000 worth of over 850 new books for the school's library and have plans to replace the outdated computers.
In an effort to continue to assist updating the needs of Kirkman Park Elementary, The Tybro Foundation has decided to help purchase Interactive Projectors for as many classrooms as we can before August 2017.
Typically the presenter is allowed to interact with either the projected image, the projector, or in some cases another device. Interactive Projectors essentially mimic the function of an interactive whiteboard on any surface where the image is projected. This new technology makes learning fun and keeps the kids engaged with the instructor.
The cost of purchasing and installing interactive projectors this past year was $2887.50/classroom. The projector costs $1431. (This LCD projector allows the teacher to use the white board interactively.) The rest of the price covers the cabling and installation. These projectors are mounted from the ceiling. All materials and services come from vendors approved by Guilford County Schools.
Our goal is to be able to provide this funding to the school by the start of the 2017 School Year in August. Any donation to this goal is much appreciated.
